The Company
The company was founded in 1959 under the name of Petroquimica Sudamericana. In its beginings it produced polyester and polyamide fibres and yarns, competing with local and foreign companies.
In 1983 the named of the company was changed to Manufactura de Fibras Sintéticas S.A. (MAFISSA)
In 1992 we implemented a ventilation pool for the treatment of liquid effluents.
In 1999 we launched the C.P.U or Continuous Polycondensation Unit, and two direct P.O.Y. spinning. (Lines 11 and 12)
In 2000 we set in march the first direct spinning of fibres and in 2001 the second one. (Lines 10A and 10B)
Together the C.P.U. , the Fibre and P.O.Y. direct spinning placed us as the leaders in the polyester yarn and fibre markets.
In 2002 we increased our production capacity with a new line of P.O.Y. direct spinning. (Line 13)
Between 2005 and 2007 we incorporated new equipment in the textured department, increasing our machines from 13 to 18. (R15, R16, AFK1, AFK2 and AFK3).
